Coloring My Way Across The Globe: The Santorini Palette
My original artwork based on travels to Santorini | ARTIST: Lauren F. Battistini
Hey, hey, hey, hey! How are all of you doing out there in the world, color enthusiasts?
I promised you that I would present a color palette inspired by the doors in Santorini, Greece. Today I’m also sharing my original art, a series called Solitary Moments.
I created this series based on my own photography, some of which was shared in the last blog post. For this art series, I used thick, brown paint contractor’s masking paper.
My drawings were done freehand and in ink only. This was intentional so as to create imperfect, messy lines around which I could simply color and work readily in oil and chalk pastels.
The Santorini Palette
Let’s have a look at the paint color palette I created as inspired by the colorful doors of Santorini. The palette is comprised of six colors from Sherwin-Williams’ designer color collection.
DISCLAIMER: Sherwin-Williams is not compensating me for this post nor do they endorse any content contained within, These are my opinions and color discernment at play here in the creation of new palettes for you to view and incorporate as you wish in your own architectural spaces.

I end today with a small story. My mom—-who just passed away unexpectedly four months ago—was understandably nervous about my traveling to Greece alone back in 2019. She wanted my entire itinerary of course. I emailed her the name, number and address of the U.S. Embassy ambassador in Athens along with links to all of lodging. She also received copies of my U.S. passport and recently acquired international driver’s license. Friends, put your mommas at ease and just send them this information! :)
TRAVEL TIP: Store all of your important documentation, itinerary and accommodations on your phone in a folder. Leave all of this important information with one or more close family members or friends prior to your trip. This sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people need reminding. Haha!
BONUS TRAVEL TIP: Purchase a medical insurance mini-policy for your trip. It costs usually less than $100 and can easily cover up to $1 million in medical expenses. Purchase this through a local travel agent. Trust me on this one!
That’s all for today, colorful friends. I hope that you have enjoyed the color palette, travel tips and art! Let me know here or in the comments.
XOXOXO,
your color ambassador Lauren B.
